Robert Colvile Director and CapX Editor-in-Chief

Areas of expertise: Economic policy and growth, housing, tax, trade, and centre-right politics

Robert Colvile is the Director of the Centre for Policy Studies and Editor-in-Chief of CapX, as well as a columnist for The Sunday Times. In December 2019 he took a leave of absence to co-author the Conservative Party’s election manifesto, which also contained a range of policies advocated by the CPS.

Robert is a regular guest on flagship political programmes such as BBC’s Newsnight, Sky News, BBC News, and Politics Live.

He was previously at the Daily Telegraph and BuzzFeed UK. Since 2021 he has been an advisor to the JCB Group.

 

Karl Williams Research Director

Areas of expertise: Economic policy, legal and illegal immigration, economic inactivity

Karl Williams is Research Director at the Centre for Policy Studies. A data specialist with a background in energy and seaborne trade research in the City, his work at the CPS has focused on political economy, energy and immigration.

He is a frequent contributor to CapX and has written for a range of national news outlets. Before joining the CPS in 2021, he achieved a distinction in the Political Thought and Intellectual History MPhil at Cambridge.

Emma Revell External Affairs Director

Areas of expertise: Housing, intergenerational inequality, gender issues, social freedoms, levelling up, current affairs

Emma Revell is External Affairs Director at the Centre for Policy Studies. She recently worked as an External Affairs Advisor at the British Retail Consortium, prior to which she was Head of Public Affairs at the Institute of Economic Affairs.

Emma has written for the Telegraph, City A.M., the Spectator, and the Daily Express and has appeared on Politics Live, LBC’s Cross Question, BBC News, Sky News, ITV News, among other outlets.

Matthew Feeney Head of Tech and Innovation

Areas of expertise: Emerging technologies, Regulation, Free speech

Matthew Feeney is Head of Tech & Innovation at Centre for Policy Studies. Before joining CPS, Matthew was the Director of Cato Institute’s Project on Emerging Technologies. His writing has appeared in The New York Times, The Washington Post, City A.M., and others. 

Matthew has been a regular on TV and radio in the United States and is available for comment and interview.

Dillon Smith Energy and Environment Researcher

Areas of expertise: Energy, Environment, Net zero, Transport

Dillon is the Researcher for Energy and Environment Policy at the Centre for Policy Studies.  He has a background in finance, having worked previously in debt capital markets at Deutsche Bank in London and New York.

Dillon is available for comment on energy and environment matters, having been quoted in outlets such as The Telegraph and PoliticsHome, and broadcast interviews.

 

Joseph Dinnage CapX Deputy Editor

Areas of expertise: Current affairs and lifestyle economics

Joseph Dinnage is Deputy Editor of CapX. Prior to joining CapX, Joseph was Press and Digital Officer at the Institute of Economic Affairs, a free-market think tank.

He has written widely on a variety of issues and has contributed to The Critic, The Daily Express and 1828

Tanika D’Souza Researcher

Areas of expertise: Family, gender, free speech, social freedoms and culture.

Tanika D’Souza is a Researcher at the Centre for Policy Studies. Prior to joining the CPS, Tanika worked as an Associate Private Banker at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Her work on politics, economics and culture has appeared in literary journals and news publications including The Bulpadock, Harper’s Bazaar, CapX and others.

Daniel Herring RESEARCHER FOR ECONOMIC & FISCAL POLICY

Areas of expertise: Economic and Fiscal Policy

Daniel is Researcher for economic and fiscal policy at the Centre for Policy Studies. He was previously at the Legatum Institute, where he led work on the Institute’s Prosperity Index. He began his career at the New Zealand Treasury. He holds degrees in Law and Arts (majoring in Politics and Economics) from the University of Auckland.

Josh Coupland Digital and Communications Manager

Areas of expertise: Current affairs

Josh is Digital & Communications Manager at the Centre for Policy Studies. Prior to his current role, he spent six years at Wasps Group, working across the sports franchise’s marketing and communications department. During this period he also spent time working with the Coventry Building Society Arena on their digital strategy and implementation.

Research Fellows

Alongside our Research Team, the Centre for Policy Studies is also home to a number of research fellows including economist Dr Gerard Lyons, former special adviser Nick King, and energy and rail expert Tony Lodge. While they are not based at the Centre for Policy Studies we are happy to try and place media requests with them.
